The Barcelona head coach is said to be deeply angered after leaks regarding crucial match related information were published in newspapers
If Barcelona’s poor start and dropping 11 points from their opening 7 games wasn’t enough, Barcelona were hit by another blow, with someone within the club leaking crucial information. Luis Enrique was furious to see the original tactical plans from Barcelona’s Champions League tie against Borussia Monchengladbach displayed all over the newspapers so soon after the game.
The manager fears the next leak could happen before a game, which could seriously jeopardize the outcomes of matches, with a crucial game against Deportivo and the mouth-watering Champions League matchup against Manchester City next on the fixture list.
English newspaper, Daily Mail report that the Barcelona boss called each and every member of the backroom staff for an urgent meeting, on backdrop of the ‘leaks’ during the international break and urged them to ‘out’ the mole, though no one has owned up or been ousted as yet. The manager is said to be feeling betrayed as these leaks seem to come from his trusted inner-circle.
Daily Mail further report that the problems first surfaced when Barcelona based paper El Mundo Deportivo got complete information regarding Barcelona’s plan of attack during set-pieces and how they plan to defend them against Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Catalan club staged a comeback at Borussia after going a goal behind to win 2-1, with Pique scoring the winner. Enrirue believes they wouldn’t have conceded if the pre-match tactical dossier, which is only shared with his own technical staff, hadn’t been leaked.
While this news does come as a shock, it isn’t the first time a Spanish powerhouse has been affected by a ‘mole’ leaking information with Jose Mourinho during his stint as the manager of Real Madrid also complaining about an insider leaking news to their ‘friends’ in Spain.
