Arsenal have reportedly agreed a contract extension for former Real Madrid superstar Mesut Ozil in a bumper new deal for the playmaker.
Mesut Ozil has been one of the most influential players on the pitch for Arsenal since making the move from Real Madrid for a fee of around £42.5m. The 27-year-old has since made quite an impression in the Premier League becoming a quick crowd favourite for Arsenal fans.
Ozil boasted a remarkable return of 6 goals and a mammoth 19 assists in the Premier League last season which saw him finishing as the league’s top provider while also being named Arsenal’s Player of the Season for 2015-16. The German international has already scored two goals in the league from only 5 appearances to date and was reported to be happy with the football and life in London (stats via whoscored).
Ozil’s current deal expires in 2018 and the playmaker was rumoured to be in talks with Arsenal over a new improved contract. Also, with Jack Wilshere out on loan to Bournemouth, it was reported that Ozil was eyeing a change of number on his jersey with the number 10 now available.

Now, as per German publication Bild, Arsenal have finally agreed to a deal to extend the former Schalke player’s contract. Not much details have been revealed by Bild regarding the contract, but the publication has pointed that the contract is a ‘lucrative’ long-term deal which might refer to a hefty pay rise for the player.
But, Bild has also made a revelation that, as a part of the new deal, Arsenal have also agreed to hand over the number 10 jersey to the German international, who will, in turn, vacate the number 11 jersey.
Along with the above revelation, one can only speculate what the new wage is going to be for Ozil with the playmaker currently on a £140,000 per-week contract at the club. One twitter user, known for his know-how and reporting of news regarding Arsenal, though, has speculated that the 27-year-old could be set to pocket around £200,000 per-week including all perks and bonuses.
@Iecoq not my end mate. Probably north of £200k everything included though

The news would come as an additional delight to the Arsenal fans with the Gunners finally hitting a stride of form as they swept aside Chelsea at Emirates last weekend. The supporters would now be looking anxiously towards Sanchez to renew his contract and confirm his stay alongside fellow superstar Mesut Ozil.
