Manchester United are reportedly looking to offer teen sensation Marcus Rashford a new improved contract to secure his future at the club.

Manchester United recently signed former academy player Paul Pogba in a world record transfer this summer. The midfielder, who was let go of for a minimal tribunal compensation below the £1m mark, went on to become one of the best midfielders in Europe playing for Juventus, with United having to splash £89m to bring him back to Old Trafford.

Even though United are strong financially, they would surely look to avoid any future situations akin to Paul Pogba’s. The Daily Mail have claimed that that is one of the reasons the United hierarchy is looking to extend Marcus Rashford’s current contract by offering him a new improved deal at the club.

The 18-year-old signed a new four-year-deal in May this year with an annual wage of over £1m. However, the striker has managed to feature and score for England’s senior team and his stock has risen exponentially, with the player commanding the attention of the whole footballing world.

Even though his current contract includes scheduled pay-rises upon hitting certain targets, Manchester United feel the player deserves an improved deal based on his recent performances.

Another reason is that Manchester United do not want the player’s contract to run into the last 18 months and are looking to upgrade his current deal which is set to expire in 2020. Daily Mail have reported that the club is in constant contact with Rashford and his agent in order to avoid another Pogba situation.

Marcus Rashford has caught the imagination of the United fans who, along with former players and experts, believe the player is set to become a future superstar for both club and country. It is only logical for Manchester United — the club that has been the breeding ground of several other English superstars in the past —  to secure the future of such a mercurial player.
