Watford are reportedly in talks to bring Chelsea’s young Brazilian Kenedy on a season-long loan.
Espn claim that according to their sources, Premier League club Watford are in talks to sign Kenedy on a season-long loan. The report states that the talks are in an advanced stage. The 20-year-old has hardly featured in pre-season for the Blues with manager Antonio Conte reportedly informing Kenedy that he is free to go out on a temporary basis to gain some first-team experience.
Kenedy joined last year from Fluminese and was included straight-away into the first-team setup at Chelsea, featuring 20 times in all competitions for the Blues in his debut season. It is reported that Chelsea want Kenedy to feature regularly this season in order to continue his growth. In the wake of chances being limited at Stamford Bridge, the club are willing to listen to offers for the player to go out on loan.
Walter Mazzarri, on the other hand, wants the 20-year-old for his versatility, as he can slot with equal ease at both the left-back and left-wing positions. The experienced manager is in search of attacking options to add to his squad at his new club, and sees Kenedy as a key addition to the existing first-team setup.
Chelsea, though, are seemingly short on numbers at the back, with full-back Matt Miazga also reportedly on his way out of the club. In case Chelsea do not find a suitable full-back to add to the squad, it might be likely that Antonio Conte would wish to keep Kenedy as a backup for the defence.
Also, if Conte wants to deploy his much famed three defenders at the back with two attacking full-backs, the Italian might just find Kenedy’s skill-set perfect for carrying the job he so desires from a player in that position. The Brazilian has captured the imagination of the Blues fans with his desire to have a positive impact on a match, along with his crazy on-the-ball skills. But it may not be enough to warrant him an integral role in the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge, and the 20-year-old could instead see himself being loaned to Watford to get regular first-team football.
