Chelsea are reportedly preparing a cash plus player offer for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku involving Loic Remy and Asmir Begovic.
The Sun have claimed that Chelsea are ready to offer goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and striker Loic Remy as part of the deal to bring Everton striker Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge. The report states that the Blues are hoping to persuade Everton by sweetening the deal and offering them two ready first-team players to add to their squad in addition to cash, to convince them to let Lukaku off their books.
Everton have already rejected a £57m bid from Chelsea and then news broke that the Blues were readying a cash plus player deal to convince Everton, involving striker Loic Remy. However, according to The Sun, the Londoners are now ready with a sensational offer involving two of their first-team players – Loic Remy and Asmir Begovic.
While Loic Remy has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce, Chelsea have already lined up a replacement for Asmir Begovic targeting AC Milan’s experienced Spanish goalkeeper Diego Lopez. The former Stoke goalkeeper is currently the understudy to Belgian international Thibaut Courtois, but wants regular first-team football and is prepared to leave the club in search of that.
This offer involving Begovic is something that could pique Everton’s interest as the Toffees are searching for a new number 1 after the departure of Tim Howard and would provide them a goalkeeper who could go straight into the starting lineup.
Loic Remy would solve the problem of looking for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku in addition to the cash being offered in the deal. The striker has been frozen out at Stamford Bridge, spending most of his time on the bench. He would love to join the Everton revolution under Ronald Koeman that has been boosted by the finances of the new ownership.
This deal looks like it could benefit both clubs as Antonio Conte would finally be able to get his hands on a forward to partner Batshuayi or Costa. Everton, on the other hand, would be able to strengthen their goalkeeping department along with finding a ready replacement for the Belgian international. It still remains to be seen whether Everton would go for the offer or hold firm on their stance of asking £75m for the former Chelsea forward.
