Juventus coach Max Allegri, in his press conference ahead of the friendly against West Ham, has declared that he has called Pogba to training tomorrow at Vinovo. This could indicate that the French international’s move to Manchester United is far from being finalised.
New reports have surfaced today that the Pogba deal will be finalised tonight. Allegri, however, spoke at a press conference and was asked about the players he has called up for the match and the formation he intends to play. He also spoke about Marchisio’s speedy recovery but the comments that will dominate the headlines is the declaration of his intentions to have Paul Pogba back in training tomorrow.
Allegri’s comments add to the confusion
Earlier today Allegri was asked by the press about possible replacements for Pogba with various names doing the rounds on social media and several news reports. Allegri maintained a diplomatic stance by declaring that the Frenchman is still a Juventus player and has a commitment to follow through.
Allegri spoke briefly on the topic which was a clear indication of irritation at the long-drawn saga. “A Pogba substitute? He’s still a Juventus player. I requested him at Vinovo for tomorrow” (via Calciomercato).
It remains to be seen whether Pogba is seen training tomorrow at Vinovo or he chooses not to. He has been holidaying in the United States after Euro 2016 ended. It is also worth noting that all Juventus Euro stars have returned to training with the exception of Pogba. Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci returned yesterday but are not likely to be a part of the game against West Ham. Pogba resuming training at Juventus, however unlikely, would completely turn the story on its head, as millions of United fans still expect to see him wear the famous Red jersey once again.
