Chelsea are reportedly ready to listen to offers for Brazilian attacking midfielder Oscar, who has failed to impress new manager Antonio Conte in pre-season.
Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that Chelsea will listen to offers for Brazilian midfielder Oscar. The report states that new Blues manager Antonio Conte was disappointed by the 24-year-old’s work-rate in Chelsea’s narrow 3-2 defeat against Real Madrid. Gazzetta added that the attacker has been unimpressive in general in the whole of pre-season and Conte has decided to put the player on the market.
Antonio Conte fielded questions from the press after the Real Madrid defeat and upon being asked about Oscar’s future, the Italian insisted that he is still assessing the squad and will make a decision on the future of some of his players at the end of pre-season. However, it looks like the former Juventus manager has made his mind up regarding Oscar, and is willing to listen to offers around the £30m mark.
The 24-year-old has suffered two below-par seasons at Stamford Bridge. Oscar has a total of 9 goals and 11 assists to his name in 55 Premier League appearances (via WhoScored) over the past couple of seasons and has evidently lacked consistency. The Brazilian has now failed to impress the new manager as well, with Gazzetta reporting that Conte has informed the Blues hierarchy that Oscar is not a part of his first-team plans for the coming season.
This would be great news for Inter Milan, who have been linked with a move for Oscar. The Nerazzurri can also afford the asking price set by Chelsea, with the funds from the potential €70m sale of Maurco Icardi to Napoli. Oscar seems to be on the way out of Chelsea and Roberto Mancini would be hoping he can add the Brazilian attacker to his squad ahead of the start of the season as he attempts to continue Inter Milan’s resurgence in the Serie A.
