Blaise Matuidi has refused to comment about a possible transfer to Manchester United.

French midfielder Blaise Matuidi is on international duty, preparing for a mega Euro 2016 finale against Portugal. The PSG man has been linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester for over a week. However, while questioned about the possibility of a move to Old Trafford, the 29-year-old chose to remain coy, and gave the impending clash against the Seleccao more importance than his club future.

According to ESPN, Matuidi brushed off Manchester United links in a press conference. The PSG midfielder said:

“You know, it’s not the topic. I’m 100 percent focused on the Euros — I am deeply living this event.”

“I am really focused on it and I don’t want to think about other things.”

“I’m living an exceptional moment, a moment that we may not live again in our lives, so I’m living it 100 percent and I don’t ask other questions to myself about my next club,” he added

“As I always say, I’ve got a contract with PSG and that’s it.”

The French midfielder has been a Manchester United target ever since David Moyes was the man in charge, and new manager Jose Mourinho too seems to be a fan of the defensive midfielder. Matuidi has been a mainstay in Didier Deschamps’ French squad, and has been pivotal in their run to the Euro final. He would certainly be no nonsense player at the heart of United’s midfield, something they have lacked since the days of Roy Keane.

According to WhoScored, Matuidi tallied 4 goals and 7 assists in 31 appearances this past season, despite playing from a deeper midfield position. He also won 2.4 tackles per game, and averaged a total of  1.5 interceptions at the heart of the Parisians’ midfield. His passing ability is pretty impressive and he is a calm and composed figure on the ball – something Jose Mourinho would want all of his players to be. The 29-year-old, given his versatility, would quickly adapt to the England’s top tier, should he decide to move to Manchester.
