Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in young English midfielder Will Hughes and has asked for a regular progress report on the Derby midfielder.

As per reports from Sun Sport, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Derby ace Will Hughes to Old Trafford and has requested for a regular progress report on the English midfielder in the coming weeks.

It is rumored that the new gaffer wants to boost their home-grown quota with the signing of the 21-year-old from Championship after two foreign signings in the face of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Derby are likely to hold out for a fee of £7M for Hughes if the Red Devils were to make an offer in the near future, as per express.co.uk.

Will Hughes has been a mainstay for Derby in the Championship ever since his debut in 2011. He has gone on to make 122 appearances scoring 7 goals. The Number 19 for the Rams has also been a consistent face in the England U21 side making 17 appearances and scoring 2 goals in the process.

He was held to only a handful appearances last season after being sidelined for 6 months with an ACL tear. It is understood that if United were to make Hughes a part of the squad, the English midfielder is most likely be a part of their first-team setup.

Will Hughes is often described by his peers as a flair-player who likes to use through balls and his mazy runs, to create space for teammates and cause chaos in the opposition’s half. His passing is often immaculate and he has a knack of tackling as well. His mazy runs also make him prone to being fouled often, whereas his fondness to tackle, also leads to him committing fouls.

He had earlier said that he bases his play on Xavi and Andres Iniesta. However, his strength in passing and ability to spot a run, matched by his eagerness to tackle opponents along with his rather short stature and weakness in aerial duels, hint to Paul Scholes.

His blonde hair along with his similarity in skills is just reminiscent of the Ginger Prince who was widely regarded as one of the best passers of the ball and is a United legend. Jose Mourinho is just in his first strides as a United manager but he may just have found his own version of Scholes in Will Hughes.

Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj is reportedly set for crunch talks with Jose Mourinho over his future.

The 21-year old Belgian shot to limelight under David Moyes but was frozen out of the picture by Louis Van Gaal last term and was sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund. He played just six times for BVB and was recalled in January. But, his first-team opportunities were limited under the Dutch manager.

As per The Sun, Januzaj seeks reassurance, from the new manager, on his role in and around the first-team and is reportedly looking to leave the club permanently and not on-loan if he is not in the first-team plans. The reports say that Januzaj and his representatives are looking to sit down with Jose Mourinho this week when he returns to training.

Adnan Januzaj had burst onto the scene under David Moyes in 2013 and has since gone on to make 50 appearances and score 5 goals for the Red Devils. The former Anderlecht winger is down in the pecking order but the newly appointed Portugese is said to rate the youngster highly.
