Chelsea FC Transfer News: Blues make €35 million offer for Radja Nainggolan; Conte to bring Italian goalkeeping coach to Cobham

Chelsea have made another improved bid for Roma’s Radja Nainggolan.

Nainggolan recently admitted that his compatriots from Chelsea, Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois were persuading him to move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.  However,  it seemed that the deal was off the table after Roma were refusing to let go of their prized midfielder.

But according to latest developments, Chelsea have made another bid for the Roma hardman after their previous bid for €32 million was rejected.

According to GianlucadiMarzio, the Blues have now tabled a €35 million bid for the midfielder. The 28-year-old, who is currently in France with his side’s European Championship contingent, mentioned in a press conference that discussions with Chelsea ‘were‘ on going, but at the moment there was nothing.

I said to him(Roma director James Pallotta) I love where I am playing so why not stayChelsea were talking but at the moment there is nothing. The Premier League is a big competition, it’s lovely, but I think sometimes in life you need to make choices, and all I can say is that I am happy where I am.” [via ESPN]

Chelsea’s reluctance to give up on the tough tackling midfielder is testament to how highly he is regarded by incoming manager Anotnio Conte. The Italian had even tried to sign him for Juventus, but ultimately failed.

Conte to bring Italy goal keeping coach to Cobham

Antonio Conte is set to bring Italian goalkeeping coach Gianluca Spinelli to the Bridge in order to satisfy Thibaut Courtois. According to the Guardian, Spinelli, who along with Conte is currently in France, with Italy’s national team contingent for the European Championships, is interested in joining his current boss at London, post the end of the tournament.

Since being confirmed as the future manager of Chelsea, Conte and Courtois are reported to have spoken a number of times and the Italian has been made aware of the strained relationship between the Belgian shot-stopper and Chelsea’s current goalkeeping coach, Christophe Lollichon. Earlier in the season reports had emerged that Courtois and the long serving coach have major differences on training regimes and methods. After speaking to Courois, Conte believes that the pair needn’t work together any longer.

Christophe Lollichon, is credited to be one of the finest goalkeeping coaches int he world. The Frenchman arrived at Cobham in 2007 to in a coaching capacity for Petr Cech. The pair had a successful working relationship at Rennes and enjoyed great times together at Chelsea. He also help Cech establish himself as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world. It was expected that Lollichon would follow Cech out to Arsenal, but Chelsea managed to hold on the Frenchman for another year.

Chelsea’s second choice keeper Asmir Begovic will also be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge. Begovic saw a considerable amount of game time in the past season due to Courtois’ suspensions and injuries but it seems that he will be allowed to leave Chelsea, only after a season.

Begovic is likely to be replaced with  French veteran Steve Mandanda from Marseille.
