Transfer News – Juventus Director confirms buyback of Morata by Real Madrid

After weeks of speculation regarding Alvaro Morata’s future destination, the first stage of the rumors have been put to rest by Juventus Sporting Director, Beppe Marotta, confirming that a formal communication has been received by the Turin outfit earlier today from Real Madrid, stating that the buyback clause shall be activated by the end of the month.

The buyback clause which is reportedly fixed at 30 million Euros, was put in the contract by Real Madrid when they sold Morata to Juventus; a habit exercised regularly by the Spanish giants to excel in the transfer market.

The reported buyback may have put an end to the first stage of the speculation but it has added fuel to the next one. If reports from various media outlets are true, Real Madrid have exercised the buyback of Morata from Juventus, to sell him for a larger fee to the suitors.

The fact that Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the Spaniard is no secret. Goal.com have reported interest from Arsenal and Chelsea while Spanish outlet Marca have added Manchester United to the mix. It will be interesting to see how Real Madrid approach this and what Morata feels about moving to these clubs.

Morata had a mixed season with Juventus after a blistering debut season. His performances were a bit inconsistent this season and he even went goalless for up to 3 months at a point.

Morata also himself reflected on a tough year at Juve marred with personal problems unrelated to football. Granted that despite such performances, Marotta would have loved to keep Morata at the club and build a dynasty around the plethora of young world class talents but it wasn’t in his hand.
