According to reports, Chelsea’s loan stars Andreas Christensen, Dominic Solanke and Marco Van Ginkel are in demand after enjoying impressive individual seasons at their respective clubs.
According to Bild (via Express), Borussia Monchengladbach want to make Andreas Christensen’s move permanent. The German side are willing to break their club record and sign Christensen for a reported £15million. The centre back has enjoyed a superb individual season in the Bundesliga, helping them to a 5th placed finish on the table. The 20 year old Dane has become a regular in the Die Fohlen starting XI since joining from Chelsea on loan in the summer of 2015. He started 31 times in the Bundesliga and 5 times in the Champions League for Andre Schubert’s men.
Borussia have been impressed with Andreas’s growth and rapid progress. He has a great presence in the air and is a technically gifted ball playing midfielder whose game shows a maturity well beyond his years. A Jose Mourinho favourite, the 20 year old has attracted interest from Barcelona this season, which is testament to the potential and talent. According to the report, the Borussian side are willing to part with some of the money they acquired from the sale of Granit Xhaka in order to keep Christensen.
Until recently, in the eyes of most Chelsea fans, Andreas was the perfect candidate to be John Terry’s successor. After the legendary captain recently signed a one year extension, doubts have been raised over Christensen’s immediate future at Stamford Bridge. Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic have also signed contract extensions with the Blues’ this term, and with Kurt Zouma fast recovering from his injury, Christensen’s first team chances seem slim. It is yet to be seen whether Antonio Conte will be willing to give the young Dane his chance or send him away on a second loan spell.
Moving further up the pitch, Chelsea’s Marco Van Ginkel has been on loan at PSV Eindhoven for the second half the season. He has had a superb spell in his native country and showed the same kind of form that led Chelsea to purchase him from Vitesse 3 years ago. He helped PSV to the Eredivise title and he had a great individual season, scoring 8 goals and providing 13 assists in the past 5 months.
The 23 year old is PSV’s top summer priority according to a report from Inside Futbol, but the Dutch Champions are waiting to see what plans incoming manager Antonio Conte has for the midfielder.
Van Ginkel had a bad start to his Chelsea career, injuring his ACL in September 2014, which kept him out for the rest of the season. In the 2014/15 season, he moved to Milan and had a mixed spell, starting out slow and getting injured, but he managed to finish the season strongly. He moved to Stoke in the first half of the 2015/16 season. He managed to start a few games but decided to leave due to lack of game time. But since his move to PSV, he has flourished and returned to top form, giving the fans some hope of seeing him play for Chelsea in the near future.
After impressing in England’s and in Europe’s youth leagues, Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke was sent on loan to Dutch side Vitesee Arnhem, like many Chelsea players before him. The youngster scored 7 goals and registered 1 assist in 25 appearances for the Dutch side in his first spell away from England. Hardly impressive figures, but at only 18 years of age, the Reading-born forward has a lot of time to build on his first season and improve.
Real Betis are reportedly interested in bringing the youngster to Seville after enjoying such great success with another Chelsea youngster, Charly Musonda. Musonda moved to the Estadio Benito Villamarín in December and has impressed with his skill and his tenacious performances instantly made him a fan favourite. According to a report in Football Espana, the Seville club are looking to bring Solanke to Spain in the summer in the hopes of enjoying the same kind of success they did with Musonda.
