Manchester United and Chelsea target Edinson Cavani wants Juventus move

Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani wants a move away from the French capital and is set to make his intentions clear in a meeting with PSG later this week, if reports from the Italian media are to be believed.

Cavani has long been overshadowed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG, ever since his €64 million move from Italian club Napoli. Thus, the 29 year old is now ready to make a move in search of more game time, despite the fact that Ibrahimovic has let his contract with PSG run out and is also leaving the club.

According to Italian news outlet Tuttosport, Cavani, who is also believed to be courting offers from Manchester United and Chelsea, has set his mind on a move to Juventus.

Juventus have their own problems up front. While the duo of Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic have been running riot in the opposition defence in Serie A, Alvaro Morata is said to be looking for a move away from Turin. The Bianconeri need a quality replacement for Morata, and Cavani could just be their man.

Cavani has mostly been used as a left-sided forward at PSG this season. Even from a wide position, Cavani has managed to score 19 goals from 24 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG.

However, Cavani’s agent Claudio Anellucci does not believe that PSG will let the 29 year old leave the club that easily. He said to Radio Crc [via Calciomercato], “I don’t think that there is the possibility for Cavani to leave PSG. After the departure of Ibrahimovic, the club wants to keep what they organically have, then strengthen to target the Champions League.”

Manchester United, Chelsea unattractive destinations

Paris Saint-Germain vs Chelsea FC

Juventus are not the only club that are eyeing a transfer for Cavani this summer. Their Serie A rivals Napoli are also trying to bring the Uruguayan back to the Stadio San Paolo. Apart from interests from Italy, Cavani is also being eagerly tracked by Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United.

While both these clubs are in need of some attacking impetus, it seems unlikely that Cavani will move to Chelsea or Manchester United. Neither of the two clubs have qualified for the Champions League next season, and will have to pay through their skin to land the striker. However, Juventus can offer Cavani Champions League football, which makes them a likely destination for Cavani.
