According to reports, Liverpool have approached Portuguese giants Porto over a possible deal for their Algerian winger Yacine Brahimi.
According to a report from Mirror, the Reds are one of three sides to have contacted Porto regarding the availability of Yacine Brahimi. The 26 year old winger is being monitored by a number of top European clubs, which include Juventus, AC Milan and Wolfsburg.
The Algerian international is reported to have a €60 million buyout clause. Porto only own 50% of his playing rights, which means that they would get only half of any fee they approve for the winger. After moving to Porto from Granada, 80% of Brahimi’s economic rights were sold to Doyen Sports. In 2015, Porto brought back 30% of his rights. This would mean that Porto would likely have to increase their initial asking price for the player if they wish to make an enormous profit off of him.
Yacine Brahimi
Since moving to the Estadio do Dragao in 2014, the Algerian has gone on to become one of the finest wingers in Europe. He’s a technically gifted and a very versatile player who can play in almost any attacking position. He has been known to play on either wing and even as a central attacking midfielder.
The 2014 BBC African Player Of The Year has netted 21 goals for the Azuis e Brancos in 85 appearances in all competitions. He has tremendous pace and that, combined with his superb dribbling ability, makes him a nightmare for fullbacks. He is unafraid to show off his skills on the pitch and often does so with great effect and in Portugal, earning the nickname “Momentos Brahimi” or the “Brahimi moments”.
He’s not the best defensively, but he makes up for it with a fantastic work ethic. The Algerian would be a perfect fit for the English game. He’s fast, strong, skillfull and a technical ability that Jurgen Klopp would love to exploit on the pitch.
