John Terry’s contract saga has finally come to an end after the former England captain signed a deal that will keep him at Chelsea for at least another year.
Terry had announced earlier this year that this might be his final season at Chelsea, but the club offered him a new deal on Friday, with “a different role” in store for their captain.
The 35-year-old has signed the contract that keeps him at the Stamford Bridge for another year, which was confirmed by Chelsea’s official twitter handle.

Terry has been one of the best captains in Chelsea history over the course of his career, and that fact was not lost on the Blues’ fans on Twitter.
People want Terry gone DEAD we don’t have any leaders in the squad. From Drogba, Terry, Lampard, Cech, Cole and Ivanovic to who? Cahill?

Either Chelsea aren’t getting CB targets they desire to replace Terry or they are worried about losing another key leader. Probably both.

Why do fans of small clubs pipe up with abuse for Terry? Do you have a captain that has lead you through winning 14 trophies? Thought not

Terry rejected 300k p/w and a first team role from China for 60k p/w and bench role at Chelsea. What a man.

Some on Twitter had different takes altogether on the news of the extension.
If I was Terry, i would have taken the mega money in China.

I see that John Terry thinks he’s above the tradition of sitting at a table with the chairman’s arm on his shoulder, signing a fake contract

And of course, with such a great record to his name, which opponent would like to see Terry staying at Chelsea for yet another year?
John Terry is a mug! Well annoyed I’m going to have to see him next season. Diaby should of kicked him harder pic.twitter.com/20OGppvyHh
