Pep Guardiola says Bayern Munich ‘mole’ is damaging club reputation more than his

Pep Guardiola hit out at the insider who leaked information and team talk to the German media, claiming that such acts are an attempt to hurt his reputation but would actually affect Bayern Munich in the long run.

Alleged details of a row that took place between Pep Guardiola and the physios, following the Bavarians’ Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid, have created quite a stir among the German media. Upon being questioned on the same, Pep admitted there was an argument that took place between the two parties but stated that it’s normal and it’s in his nature to share his opinion where it has to be.

In the pre-match press conference prior to his side’s visit to Ingolstadt, Guardiola stated, “Usually what happens inside the dressing room remains inside the dressing room.”

“It’s normal for me to talk to my players and staff and give them my opinion, but there are people here who are talking because they want to hurt me.”

Clearly disappointed that inside news at the club was being allegedly leaked out to the media, the Spaniard claimed somebody within the club setup was out to damage his reputation. However Pep feels that such actions do little to damage him, but affect Bayern Munich in the long run. He said,”Maybe this person will still be here next season and clearly they haven’t realised that they are not damaging me, but the club and the team. I won’t be here, so it’s the club’s problem.”

Guardiola is also dismayed by what he believes to be the German media’s opinion of his time at Bayern Munich, with various sections of the local press deeming the Spaniard’s tenure at Bavaria a ‘failure’ having failed to emulate the treble-winning feat of his predecessor, Jupp Heynckes. With Bayern favourites to wrap up the title in Ingolstadt, Guardiola said, “I’ve done my best here. But if you say that I had to win the Champions League, then I have failed. Go ahead and write that I have failed.”

It’s been a difficult week for the former Barcelona boss, with the Champions League exit inviting heavy criticism over the success of his tenure with the Bavarians. Winning a one-horse Bundesliga race for the last three seasons with no cup success to add to it hasn’t left many people impressed with Pep’s time at the club. However the Spaniard would like to leave Germany on a positive note by wrapping up the league title and beating Borussia Dortmund to the DfB Pokal Cup, before handing over the reigns to Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.
