Manchester United Legend Gary Neville Set To Become Manager Of Delhi Dynamos

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville could be making a quick return to management, with reports from India claiming that the Englishman is set to become the head coach of Indian Super League (ISL) side Delhi Dynamos.

Neville’s appointment as the manager of Valencia was a big shock in itself given the stature of the Spanish side and the fact that the former Manchester United right-back has no previous managerial experience. The Englishman lasted only four months on the job and was sacked after a string of poor performances from Los Che. Valencia managed to win only three of the 16 La Liga games they played under Neville.

The 41-year-old is currently part of the coaching staff for the England national team, who will begin their Euro 2016 preparations at the end of the club season.

However, recent reports emerging from India suggest that Neville is all set for another shock managerial appointment — this time as the head coach of the Delhi Dynamos franchise based in India’s capital.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, the news of Neville’s potential appointment was reported by reliable sports agent Baljit Rihal, who has previously worked to rope in a number of foreign stars for the ISL. One of these stars is former Newcastle United and Sunderland striker Michael Chopra.

The Delhi Dynamos have not won the ISL yet and that will certainly be high on their agenda as they start preparing for the 2016 season.

A particularly disappointing aspect of Delhi’s season has been their failure to fill their stadium. In fact, Delhi Dynamos have the second lowest attendance in the ISL over the two seasons. The signing of Gary Neville could well turn that around given his reputation in the game as well as Manchester United’s popularity in the sub-continent.

While Delhi had a star like Brazilian World Cup winner Roberto Carlos as their manager in 2015, the addition of Neville might help further to draw more people to the stadium.
