Chelsea are reported to have set their sights on PSG’s Javier Pastore and Fulham striker Moussa Dembele in a bid to revamp their squad for the arrival of Antonio Conte.
With each passing day, Antonio Conte’s rumoured ‘summer overhaul’ looks increasingly likely to take place at Stamford Bridge and the latest names to be linked with a move to Chelsea are PSG’s Javier Pastore and Fulham prodigy Moussa Dembele.
According to TMW, Pastore’s representatives have been contacted by the Stamford Bridge management and if a good enough offer were to be made, PSG would allow the transfer to take place.
The Argentine moved to PSG five years ago at the beginning of the Parisian’s revolution and has since seen his game time reduce with the arrival of more big money signings like Lucas Moura, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria. At only 26, Pastore will be in the peak years of his career and will have a lot to offer any team.
In a report by TheWeek, Chelsea have set their sights on French youngster Moussa Dembele. The young striker has scored 14 goals in 38 games this season and is out of a contract in the summer. His stellar performances have seen him been nominated for the ‘Football League Young Player Of The Year’ award. The report further states that Conte has identified the 19-year-old striker as a superb talent and is interested in acquiring his services for next season.
Chelsea’s Summer Dilemma
Chelsea face possibly their most important season since the Roman Abramovich takeover. However, with no Champions League next season, they are sure to find it difficult to acquire top class targets.
Pastore would prefer to go to a Champions League club, having previously been linked with European superpowers. Moussa Dembele is being targeted by Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, with the former still with a chance of being present in European competition, while the latter have all but confirmed their participation.
Chelsea’s team is undoubtedly in need of some creative and youthful additions in all areas of the park. Fans will hope that incoming manager Antonio Conte will bring with him some world class new signings, but more importantly, look to the youth from Chelsea’s academy which is the amongst the best in the world. In doing so, the Italian would help resurrect the very soul of the club.
