With Leonardo Bonucci in the peak of his career, the Italian defender has been attracting attention from a number of top clubs in Europe. If reports from Italy are to be believed, Manchester United too have taken an interest in the Juventus man.
The 28-year-old is already rumoured to have garnered interest from Chelsea and Manchester City. Manchester United are also reportedly set to join the race to sign Bonucci, who has shown his great technical and defensive abilities over the years at Juventus.
Chelsea, who are expected to sign former Juve boss Antonio Conte as their new manager at the end of the season, are said to be interested in signing the defender, with captain John Terry announcing that this could be his last season at the Stamford Bridge. Bonucci was an integral part of Conte’s defence at Juventus, and the Italy national team manager might try and sign him up, if he moves to Chelsea in the summer.
On the other hand, Pep Guardiola, who has already announced that he would be managing Manchester City come next season, has expressed his admiration for Bonucci after his Bayern Munich side drew 2-2 against Juventus in Turin. Guardiola, who is largely regarded as one of the best managers in European football at the moment, has heaped a lot of praise upon Bonucci, saying that he is one of his favourite players.
Bonucci indeed is one of the few centre-backs, who could fit seamlessly into Guardiola’s model, where the defenders also need to be good on the ball.
Now however, Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport have come out with a report saying that Manchester United are ready to make a big offer to land the Italian at Old Trafford.
Premier League trio need to splash the cash for Bonucci
While both Chelsea and Manchester City have been spending exorbitant amounts to land their top players, Manchester United have started to participate in that trend only in the last couple of seasons. They would need to continue to do exactly that, in order to get Bonucci’s much valued signature.
While Bonucci is rated at around £23.5 million by Transfermarkt, rumours from Italy suggest that Juventus would only agree to sell their 28-year-old star defender, if the the Premier League clubs are willing to cough up around £39.4 million.
