Former FC Barcelona star Ronaldinho, who is also a close friend of current superstar Neymar, has stated that the forward can sign for Manchester City.
Neymar’s father had recently spoken on a mammoth €190m offer by Manchester United last summer for the services of the FC Barcelona star. However, if Ronaldinho is to be believed, it is their city rivals Manchester City who have a realistic sign of signing the Brazilian.
As reported by Mirror Online , Ronaldinho said: “Neymar has already stated his desire to play for Pep.
“That was a big statement with most people knowing that Pep would be joining Manchester City in the summer.
“We know they can pay wages that no other club in Europe has the power to do.”
Ronaldinho brushes aside reports of Neymar’s prospective move to Real Madrid
The Brazil star was also linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent days. However, the former FC Barcelona superstar, who is close to the player, dismissed the rumours.
Ronaldinho said: “There has been a lot of talk about Neymar’s future recently, but I believe rumours of a move to Real Madrid are false.
“I will advise him to stay at Barcelona for at least a few more years, but if he wants City and they want him, we know they have the power to make it happen.”
Can City sign Neymar?
The FC Barcelona star has a release clause of £145million as per widely published reports. If Manchester United can trigger that amount, Manchester City are not short on finances either. The Citizens’ appointment of Pep Guardiola can also work in their favour for attracting the Samba star, who is currently negotiating a new contract with FC Barcelona.
City have the financial resources to pay his wages, and with Yaya Toure reportedly on his way to China, a considerable amount of money will also be freed up. Ultimately, it can come down to a decision by the player and it would take something for even the cash-rich City to lure him from what is arguably the best club in the world right now.
