Emmanuel Adebayor Signs For His Fourth Premier League Club

Adebayor

In a move that will ease some of Tottenham Hotspurs’s financial woes, Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor has agreed on a deal with rival London club Crystal Palace after signing as a free agent.

The 31-year-old had the option of sitting at home and earning 100 thousand pounds a week, thanks to the agreement made with Tottenham Hotspur when they terminated his contract. But it looks like he’s till looking to make an impact in the premier league and has signed a new deal with Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace till the end of the season.

The deal means that spurs will now have to pay him 35,000 pounds a week, with Palace set to pay the remainder.

London calling

When speaking about his move, Adebayor said that moving back to London was a huge factor that influenced his decision and that he admired their style of play.

“Hopefully I can bring more experience to Palace and achieve what they want to achieve.” he said of his future with the club, according to The Guardian.

“I don’t have anything personally to achieve – I’ve got to go for the team and what they want to achieve. As a footballer you always want to leave your name out there. What I’ve achieved in England and football so far, I am quite happy.”

Premier League experience

Crystal Palace are the fourth English club that the Togolese forward has signed for, and they will probably be banking on his league experience to help them bag a few goals in the tail end of the season, with their strikers having a combined tally of just a single goal.

Adebayor had his first taste of premier league football at Arsenal, where he spent 4 seasons, before moving to Manchester City. He then joined Tottenham in 2011 and played there for a further 4 years, although his dismissal from the club was rather acrimonious.
