Pochettino Says Tottenham Already Have World’s Best, Doesn’t Want To Disrupt Team Balance

Tottenham Hotspur registered an impressive win over Leicester City in midweek and manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated that they already have one of the world’s best players, and he doesn’t want to make any January signings unless absolutely necessary.

Goals from Nacer Chadli and summer signing Son Heun-Min helped Tottenham overcome fellow title contenders Leicester City in the 3rd round of the FA Cup on Wednesday night. Pochettino praised the showing by the two Spurs players and also took the opportunity to address questions about whether he will be looking to spend on new players during the January transfer window.

“Games like today show me we are in the right way,” the Argentine manager said, according to The Telegraph.

“We have one of the best strikers in the world [Kane] and if we add another offensive player we have to have the right profile because if you buy the wrong player then you break the balance of the dressing room… We can improve, yes, and if we find the right player, then OK, but if not, I am very happy with the squad that we have. We have a strong squad, and that is my real thought.”

Spurs on point

In a season where most of the top teams have had mercurial form, Tottenham seem to be marching steadily towards their goal of a top 4 finish, with possibly a challenge for the title also on the cards. The Spurs have just lost three games this season and boast of a team that look like they can dismantle anyone on their day.

Pochettino’s praise of striker Harry Kane is also on point, as the 22-year old English striker has silenced his critics and proved that he is much more than a one season wonder, with 14 goals for his club this season.
