Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s fixture against Stoke City, manager Arsene Wenger admitted that playing Alexis Sanchez at the Britannia Stadium could be a gamble for the Gunners.

Alexis Sanchez is expected to return to the squad following a lengthy absence due to a hamstring injury. However, it remains to be seen if Arsene Wenger allows him some game time against Stoke City.

Playing Sanchez could be a gamble

As reported by the club website, Wenger believes that Sanchez has a ‘60:40 chance’ to be available against Stoke City.

“I would say has a 60:40 chance to be available and be back in the squad. He has two decisive days – Friday and Saturday. He is fit, he has worked very hard and the decision we have to take is whether to take a gamble or not on his injury.”

Elneny could make his debut against Stoke City

Speaking about his new signing, Wenger claimed that he could hand Elneny his debut on Sunday against Mark Hughes’ side.

“Elneny is available for selection, I haven’t decided yet [whether I will play him]. I have to see how everyone has recovered. Elneny is a possibility to be in the squad for Sunday.”

Wenger also revealed that Tomas Rosciky was on his way to regaining complete match fitness. The Czech Republic international however is expected to play for the under-21 team before returning to the first team.
