Chelsea Confirmed Lineup vs Sheffield United: Abraham replaces Giroud, Jorginho returns

AS Roma value Tammy Abraham at €52 million amid Chelsea interest.

Tammy Abraham has surprisingly replaced Olivier Giroud in the Chelsea starting lineup as the Blues take on Sheffield United this evening.

Frank Lampard has made two changes to the side that secured a 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace, for the Premier League clash against Sheffield United on Saturday evening.

Jorginho has been recalled to the starting lineup after a long-time, due to the injury of Billy Gilmour. The Italian international is expected to replace the youngster in the number six role. It will be interesting to see how he features against Sheffield United, following a rough patch.

Jorginho will be partnered by Ross Barkley and Mason Mount, although the latter is set to operate in a more advanced role. Mateo Kovacic has been named among the substitutes and could make a late second-half appearance after recovering from a knock.

In defence, Lampard has made no changes at all despite the availability of Antonio Rudiger. That means Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma will start just ahead of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga while Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta are set to feature as full-backs.

In attack, however, the introduction of Tammy Abraham, ahead of the in-form Olivier Giroud is a rather surprising decision. But, the youngster’s pace and dynamism could perhaps be useful against a solid backline of Sheffield United.

Abraham will be provided support from the wide-attacking duo of Willian and Christian Pulisic, though Callum Hudson-Odoi is another option Lampard could later utilise.

Chelsea Confirmed XI: Kepa; James, Christensen, Zouma, Azpilicueta; Barkley, Jorginho, Mount; Willian, Abraham, Pulisic
