Chelsea loanee Lewis Baker scores 11th goal of the season, gets sent off for stupid challenge [Video]

Chelsea loanee Lewis Baker, who is on loan with Vitesse Arnhem, opened the scoring for the Dutch side against FC Twente with a fine volley from inside the area. Twente failed to clear their lines and the ball fell somewhat fortunately to the waiting Baker, who made no mistake with his finish and rifled the ball into the net.

Baker has been in fine form for Vitesse this season and his goal against Twente was his 11th of the season. However, the striker did his reputation with the fans no favours after he blatantly tripped up Twente player Dejan Trajkovski. It was a completely needless challenge as Trajkovski was in his own half and wasn’t exactly causing a threat, and Baker will be kicking himself for this one.

Some may think the decision was a bit harsh considering Trajkovski was not in a goalscoring position and the challenge wasn’t particularly malicious, but the referee was having none of it and gave Baker a straight red without hesitation.
