The International break brought upon the first of many intriguing match-ups as Netherlands matched up against Belgium.

There has been an almost reversal of stature in the footballing world between the two teams. Belgium are now one of the best ranked footballing teams in the world while Netherlands have struggled to find any form ever since the departure of Louis Van Gaal after the 2014 World Cup.

The Oranje, though, took the lead against the run of play on Wednesday night as Davy Klaasen scored from the penalty spot. The two teams went into the half-time with Netherlands leading by a slim margin of 1-0 despite the dominance of Belgium.

Roberto Martinez’s side pushed further for goals as play resumed. The Belgians were, at last, rewarded for their dominance in the 82nd minute as Carrasco scored the equalizer after scoring from the edge of the box. Thorgan Hazard was credited with the assist.

Belgium, though, were unable to find a winner in the last minutes of the game as the game ended 1-1.
