Arsenal could be facing their former striker Nicklas Bendtner in the League Cup as the 28-year-old is reportedly on the verge of signing with two-time European Champions and the Gunners’ third-round opponents Nottingham Forest.

Championship side Nottingham Forest have come a long way down from their historic European double. Forest won the European Cup, predecessor to the modern Champions League, in 1978-79 and 1979-80. They may now make a grand signing though, as it appears they are closing in on Danish striker and free agent Nicklas Bendtner.

The 28-year-old Dane has become an internet sensation over the past few years, with the football community christening him as ‘Lord Bendtner’. The striker, who had his contract with Bundesliga club Wolfsburg terminated earlier this year, is best remembered for his over confident interviews while with Arsenal.

Fans on Twitter are looking forward to the possibility of Lord Bendtner facing the club where he first made a name for himself, as Arsenal face Nottingham Forest in the third round of the League Cup in two weeks.
