Chelsea FC have opened their books in this summer’s transfer market, as they confirmed the £33 million signing of Michy Batshuayi from Olympique Marseille.
The move was confirmd on Chelsea’s official website, and the club’s official Twitter account on Sunday, after the 22-year-old striker impressed with his performance in the 2016 European Championships with Belgium.

The Blues, who are looking to rebuild after a poor campaign in 2015/16, had to part with £33 million to sign the Belgium international on a five-year-contract, according to English newspaper Daily Mail.
As expected, Twitter was abuzz after the Blues announced their latest acquisition on Sunday. Here are a couple of reactions from football fans on Twitter.
Finally new signing for chelsea! Batshuayi!!

Next season..
Man Utd: Zlatan
Chelsea: Batshuayi
Arsenal: Xhaka
West Ham: Feghouli
Man City: Gundogan— Moe [SDMN] (@moencfc) July 3, 2016
However, not all fans were too eager to welcome Batshuayi to the Stamford Bridge. Some were a bit skeptical about the 22-year-old striker. To be fair to them, we have seen a few too many big-money flops in the last few Premier League seasons.
Have a horrible feeling that Batshuayi will end up being as poor for Chelsea as Depay was for Utd

Chelsea blowing 40 mil on that Batshuayi when Robson-Kanu costs nothing

Meanwhile, others decided to take this opportunity to criticise Chelsea’s cross-town rivals Arsenal, for signing relatively unknown Japanese forward Takuma Asano.

However, it was deja vu for the vast majority of the Chelsea fans on Twitter. It did not take long for the Twitteratti to compare Batshuayi with Blues’s legend Didier Drogba, who had also made the switch to Stamford Bridge, from Marseille.
Know next to nothing about Batshuayi but hope he can be as good as our last striker signed from Marseille. Drogba.

Finally Batshuayi announced. Hopefully he can be the new Drogba #WelcomeMichy

Batshuayi is literally the next Drogba
— Tom (@Montxro) July 3, 2016
Not to mention that Batshuayi is completely different to Didier… Michy is faster and a bit more skillful but Drogba was… Drogba.

I hope fans give Batshuayi some time. Some will expect Drogba after 2 mins of his debut. It’ll take time.

So just coz we signed King Drogba from OM we think Batshuayi will be as great. Optimistic or delusional? ??? #CFC ?
