[Videos] England 1-2 Iceland : Rooney goal not enough as Iceland race into quarterfinals

NICE, FRANCE - JUNE 27: Wayne Rooney of England (2nd R) walks toward Dele Alli (3rd L) to console after the UEFA EURO 2016 round of 16 match between England and Iceland at Allianz Riviera Stadium on June 27, 2016 in Nice, France. (Photo by Lars Baron/Getty Images)

Iceland inflicted the biggest upset of the tournament as they beat England 1-2 to knock the Three Lions out of the competition.

Goals from Ragnar Sigurdsson & Kolbeinn Sigthorsson were enough for the Icelanders, as they subjected England to utter humiliation.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney’s well taken penalty gave England an early lead and it seemed as if England would go on to dominate this one.

But the Three Lions barely had any time to celebrate their lead, as Ragnar Sigurdsson managed to equalise just two minutes later.

Iceland didn’t stop there though, as 12 minutes later Kolbeinn Sigthorsson gave them the lead, after being set up by Gylfi Siggurdsson as the England defenders were caught ballwatching.

Manchester City’s Joe Hart couldn’t make a proper save as hit is outstretched hand and rolled into the back of the net, to shock England and send the Iceland fans into raptures.
