Gonzalo Higuain scored an absolute stunner as Argentina finished 1-0 winners over Honduras in an international friendly. Tata Martino’s side continued their preparations for the 100th edition of the Copa America, set to take place next month in the USA.

Gonzalo Higuain has been in sensational form all season for Napoli and it took him little time to bring his form to the international stage as the striker displayed tremendous control and composure to send Argentina ahead on the night against Honduras. The striker latched on to a ball from the flanks off Marcos Rojo and did well to turn his opponent inside-out with a nutmeg through the defender’s legs before scoring with a sublime chip over onrushing Honduras goalkeeper Donis Escober.

In what was the only goal in the game, Argentina continued their preparation for the Copa America with a deserved win. However Tata Martino’s side were dealt a cruel blow when Messi was subjected to a knee-tackle on his back and had to be hobbled off. The seriousness of the injury is yet to be known with post match reports claiming the Argentine has suffered a trauma to his lower-back area. It was the seventh goal in four appearances for club and country for Higuain who will now hold the key to the Argentina’s prospects when the Albiceleste fight for continental glory.
