Manchester United summer signing Memphis Depay was criticized on social media for his mistake against Chelsea FC on Sunday but the youngster’s impressive display for the Red Devils’ U21 side suggests that it did little to affect his confidence.
The Red Devils named a very strong side for their U21 Premier League clash against Norwich City at Old Trafford, with several first-team members involved — including Dutchman Memphis Depay.
In a match attended by first-team manager Louis van Gaal, the 21-year-old played a starring role, setting up three goals and pulling off some silky moves in a seven-goal mauling.
However, his performance was overshadowed by striker Will Keane. The 23-year-old scored five goals in the win, including an outrageous Rooney-esque chip from just inside the box.
