Matchday 3 presented a lot of curve-balls in terms of results. The opening game itself served an upset, with Aston Villa running out 2-0 winners over Everton. The trend continued on Saturday, with Crystal Palace recording their first ever win against Manchester United in the Premier League era with a 2-1 scoreline.
Liverpool trounced Arsenal 3-1 while Manchester City were comfortable winners at Bournemouth. Another upset saw Newcastle marginally win over Tottenham, with the highlight being the fact that Spurs were kept at bay by the Newcastle defence, as Steve Bruce recorded his first win as Newcastle manager.
Matchday 4 sees Manchester United travel to Southampton in search of form and stability while Liverpool are up against an in-form Burnley side. Chelsea host newly promoted Sheffield United while City welcome Brighton at Etihad. Sunday though, serves two spicy fixtures, the highlight being the North London derby.
As Arsenal and Tottenham renew rivalries, the fixture is preceded by an equally intriguing match between Everton and Wolves, the two sides who finished closest to the ‘Big Six’ last season and are tipped to be roundabouts this season as well.
Before we move on to the fourth matchday and the tips for the matches, let us look at how our tips for Matchday 3 fared.
Probables Result: 7/15 (Total: 25/42)
Total Buckshot Result: 2/2

Southampton vs Manchester United
Manchester United succumbed to a shock defeat to Crystal Palace at home on Matchday 3. But, the defeat was not the only worrying factor resulting from the match. Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial have now joined his fellow stars on the sidelines, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not having enough depth in the squad right now.
Southampton come into the match on the back of a win over Brighton and will be looking to take advantage of Manchester United’s dibbly-dobbly form. But, the odds are too good not to take a gamble on Manchester United to emerge victorious at St. Mary’s, specially considering the recent history of the fixture at the ground.
Probables:
1. Manchester United to win @ 2.05
2. Over 2.5 Match Goals @ 1.90
Outside Chance:
1. Manchester United to win to NIL @ 3.60
Chelsea vs Sheffield United
It is still early times but Chelsea’s defensive problems look no closer to being solved. Despite their win over Norwich, Chelsea have only amassed 4 points from three matches, the same as their opponents on Saturday, Sheffield United. The Blades were sort of unlucky to have lost to Leicester City, thanks to a wondrous effort from Harvey Barnes.
Sheffield United have not looked out of place in the Premier League as of yet and could trouble Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Expect another entertaining and open game from Frank Lampard and his men. But, maybe, just maybe, the Blades defence could be able to contain the Blues.
Probables:
1. Under 2.5 Match Goals @ 2.10
2. Sheffield United Asian Handicap +1.5 @ 1.700
Outside Chance:
1. Sheffield United Clean Sheet – YES @ 8.00
Manchester City vs Brighton
Manchester City are heavy favourites going into the match, especially with the away side having lost their momentum after their 2-0 loss to Southampton in Matchday 3. The Citizens have fallen behind Liverpool early on, thanks to a 2-2 draw against Tottenham, and will not be looking to drop any more points in the coming weeks. Expect a ruthless City performance at Etihad.
Probables:
1. Over 3.5 Match Goals @ 1.80
2. Manchester City Clean Sheet – NO @ 2.37
Outside Chance:
1. Brighton Asian Handicap +1.5 @ 3.550
Burnley vs Liverpool
Burnley have rushed out the gates this season in the Premier League. While Sean Dyche has seen his side amass only 4 points from the first 3 games, their solitary defeat has come against Arsenal with a marginal scoreline of 2-1. Liverpool have looked shaky at the back so far this season. But, it is their star-studded attack that has bailed them out for now. Expect more of the same from both the sides.
Probables:
1. Liverpool Clean Sheet – NO @ 1.72
2. Over 2.5 Match Goals @ 1.61
Outside Chance:
1. Ashley Barnes to score anytime @ 4.33
Arsenal vs Tottenham
Arsenal have had a rough outing against Liverpool in Matchday 3, which halted their winning start to the 2019-20 Premier League season. Tottenham, on the other hand, have found it hard to keep a clean sheet this season and were undone by a Newcastle team that stopped the threatening Spurs attack from scoring.
Arsenal do come in as slight favourites, considering their form. But, in a derby, anything goes and Mauricio Pochettino will be looking towards the NLD to spur on his team to get back to the gear they are expected to be at.
Probables:
1. Both Teams to Score – YES @ 1.57
2. Harry Kane to score anytime @ 2.05
Outside Chance:
1. Full Time Result – Draw @ 3.60
Miscellaneous Tips
Jamie Vardy, Andre Gray and Sebastien Haller are all off the mark for their respective teams for the 2019-20 campaign and are our tips to get on the scoresheet in Matchday 4 as well. Wolves’ woeful weekend record when playing double matchdays could prove to be a boon for hosts Everton. Leicester vs Bournemouth should be an electric encounter, with both teams defensively a bit suspect so far.
