Iker Casillas tells Real Madrid not to sign Jose Mourinho

Real Madrid are reportedly looking to bring in Jose Mourinho as their next manager.

Jose Mourinho is currently the head coach at SL Benfica, but Real Madrid are keen to bring him back to the Santiago Bernabeu. However, they have been warned against the appointment by former captain Iker Casillas.

The Real Madrid legend has urged the club not to appoint the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager. The former Spanish international has insisted that he has no personal problem with the Portuguese manager but that he would prefer other coaches to manage Real Madrid. He added that it is his personal opinion, and he has nothing against the 63-year-old.

“I have no problem with Mourinho. He seems like a great professional to me,” Casillas wrote on X before adding, “I don’t want him at Real Madrid. I think other coaches would be better equipped to coach at the club of my life. Personal opinion, nothing more.”

Mourinho had a complicated relationship with Casillas during their time together at Real Madrid. He chose to drop the Spanish international as the first-choice goalkeeper of the club in his final season.

It remains to be seen what Real Madrid decide. It has been a disappointing season for them, and they are looking to bounce back strongly. Initially, they invested in Xabi Alonso, but the move did not work out. They decided to bring in Alvaro Arbeloa as a replacement. However, that move has not yielded the desired results either.

Real Madrid need the experience of Mourinho

The Merengues need to bring in someone with quality and experience to manage a top club. Mourinho could be ideal for them. The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss has helped them win major trophies in the past, and he knows the club well.

Whoever comes in will be under tremendous pressure to deliver instantly. The 63-year-old has the experience and the pedigree to perform under that kind of pressure. He has won several major trophies throughout his career, and it could prove to be a wise decision to move for him.

Mourinho has not managed at the elite level since leaving Manchester United, and he will be desperate to return to it. The opportunity to manage Real Madrid will be exciting for him. Recent reports claim that Mourinho is already planning his transfers with Real Madrid for the upcoming summer window.
