Eddie Howe wants William Osula to stay at Newcastle United

Newcastle United striker William Osula has been heavily linked with a move away from the Tyneside club in recent months.

However, Eddie Howe has said via Shields Gazette that he wants William Osula to stay at Newcastle United beyond the summer transfer window. The report has also claimed that the 22-year-old striker is unlikely to be sold in the summer. He has proven himself to be useful for the club this season, and manager Eddie Howe wants him to stay at the club.

“I think he’s maturing nicely,” Howe said on Osula. “I think it’s difficult to come in and a lot of pressure, a lot of other players waiting for an opportunity, so he knows he has to perform. But more than that, I thought for 60 minutes, his running ability, his power, his pace caused him real problems.”

“We signed him with the view of developing him to try and build him to become a Premier League player, because that certainly wasn’t the player that we recruited. There was a lot of work and time that’s gone into his development. Graeme Jones, Jason Tindall have done an incredible job helping his development, analysing his game, feeding back to him, and Will’s done really well to stay stable, level, and commit to that development and see the longer-term plan.

“Great to see, then, when he comes into the team and gets an opportunity that he grabs it. He’s very hungry, he’s very motivated, he believes in himself. I’d definitely like to keep him. I think Will’s a player of really rich promise, and he was when we signed him.We signed him with the view of developing him to try and build him to become a Premier League player, because that certainly wasn’t the player that we recruited.”

The youngster struggled for regular opportunities last season, and he was heavily linked with an exit at the start of the campaign. However, the Dane ended up staying, and he has proven to be very useful. On the other hand, summer signings Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa have been quite underwhelming. Both players have been linked with summer exits as well.

Newcastle United need more depth in their attacking unit, and keeping the 22-year-old at the club would be a wise decision. After the last few weeks and his recent performances, the youngster will be optimistic that he can play regularly for The Tyneside outfit in the coming months. It remains to be seen whether the Premier League club can provide him with the necessary assurances and convince him to stay.

Osula could be a key player in the future

Osula is still a young player with a lot of potential, and he could develop into a key player for the club with the right guidance and regular opportunities. He has shown that he has the talent to succeed in the Premier League, and Newcastle will need to back him more often.

Their big-money signings have not worked out this season; it is time for a reshuffle in the summer. They should look to get rid of the underperforming players and bring in upgrades so that they can fight for domestic trophies and European football once again.

The 22-year-old striker is unlikely to have any shortage of clubs hoping to sign him. He was on the radar of German clubs at the start of the season, and given his recent performances, they could be interested in him once again. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle can convince him to stay at the club and turn down offers for him in the summer.
