Cole Palmer makes revelation on Chelsea future

Cole Palmer is happy at Chelsea after admitting that he has no plans to leave the club amid links with a move away.

Cole Palmer is one of the talking points over the last few months as Chelsea continue to go through a tough period in their sporting project. There has been plenty of chopping and changing at the club, including the sacking of Enzo Maresca and the criticism of new boss Liam Rosenior.

On the sporting side, Rosenior had a good start to his life at Stamford Bridge, but has since faced plenty of challenges, including a Champions League exit and a League Cup elimination, and is now fighting for a top-five place.

There’s still time to gain that coveted Champions League spot, but for that, Rosenior needs his players on fire, especially Palmer. The England international has not been in good form, and the transfer speculation surrounding his long-term future is not helping those around Chelsea.

Manchester United had been linked since January, and there are suggestions that Palmer was open to moving back to his hometown. Bayern Munich were also linked, and there might be other clubs steadily following his situation.

Palmer has dismissed rumours about his future and told The Guardian he has no plans to leave Chelsea. The attacker believes in the club and the pathway to success, while referencing Reece James as an example after the defender signed a new six-year deal.

Palmer said, “I’ve got no plans to move from Chelsea. We’ve still got a lot to play for. We’ve got the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds, and if we finish in a Champions League spot, it puts us in a good position to sign players that we need. We spoke to the owners, and they’re sure of the players who are gonna do it. Reece won’t sign a six-year contract if he’s not spoken to the owners and the directors.

“Me and Reece spoke a lot. About things we need, players we need to sign and how things need to be. He wouldn’t sign a new contract if he didn’t know what was going on.”

Palmer’s comments echo the words of James and, recently, Moises Caicedo, who signed a new deal with the club. The backing of those players is a statement that could help the club progress in their project and attract big stars in the market. Chelsea will want to compete near the top of the table, and they must bring in top-quality players to aid this, while keeping stars like Palmer is key to their plans.
