Tottenham have a verbal agreement in place with Liverpool defensive mainstay Andy Robertson regarding a summer switch.
Andy Robertson is all set to bring an end to his nine-year-long successful stint at Liverpool this summer. His departure from Anfield has already been confirmed, but he might still continue in the Premier League, amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the North London club have secured a verbal agreement with the Liverpool full-back regarding a summer move. While nothing has been signed just yet, all terms are in place for the move to go through. However, the key factor remains Tottenham’s future in the Premier League.
They need to survive in the top flight for them to stand a chance of signing the Scottish skipper on a free transfer, who has given the green light to be a part of their project.
After making a name for himself at Hull City, Robertson made the move to Liverpool in the summer of 2017. He has been ever-present at the back for them and has played a massive part in all the success they have had. Over the years, he has been involved in 327 matches for the Reds and has contributed towards 71 goals.
Roberston to join rivals Tottenham
He has won the Champions League as well as two league titles during his stint at the club. With the 32-year-old set to leave the club upon expiry of his deal, Tottenham are looking to make the most out of it.
They seek more quality and experience at the back after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, and Robertson could certainly help their cause. With Destiny Udogie’s future uncertain, the Scottish international could take his place in the team. Since he still has a few years left on him, securing his services for free could prove to be a massive coup.
They already have a verbal agreement in place, and now they need to ensure they survive in the top flight. If that objective is taken care of, Robertson will most likely be seen playing for the North London club next season.
