Arsenal recently failed with Dani Olmo move

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have failed in their attempt to lure Barcelona attacking midfielder Dani Olmo to North London.

Arsenal want to bring Dani OImo to the Premier League. According to Sport via SportWitness, the Gunners did make an attempt to sign the Barcelona midfielder while he wasn’t enjoying a prominent role under Hansi Flick. However, their efforts went in vain, as the Spanish international turned down the opportunity.

Olmo, who was a part of La Masia (Barcelona’s famous youth academy) for seven years, left the club to fast-track his progress. He eventually returned to the club in 2024 after making a name for himself at RB Leipzig. The Catalan club forked out around €60 million to land the 27-year-old.

Since returning to his childhood club, Olmo has been involved in a total of 78 matches and has contributed towards 35 goals. 16 of those goal contributions have come in the ongoing campaign.

Despite not being a regular starter at the Catalan club, the Spanish attacking midfielder does have a prominent role. His versatility comes in very handy for Hansi Flick’s team, and the player seems to be loving life in Barcelona.

Arsenal’s failed attempt to sign Olmo

However, there was a time when he wasn’t playing regularly and was frustrated about his situation. At that point, Arsenal tried to make the most out of his situation at the Spanish club.

The Gunners wanted to lure him to England, with Mikel Arteta keen on adding more creativity in the final third. Olmo is considered a perfect fit for his system as well as the English style of football.

While Arsenal went ahead and tried to secure his services, they failed to convince the 27-year-old. Olmo turned down the opportunity to join the North London club. He doesn’t seem to have any intentions of leaving Barcelona. The Spanish star wants to succeed at his childhood club.

Given the player’s stance, Arsenal will struggle to sign even if they make any attempts this summer. With his contract running until 2030, the Gunners only stand a chance if Barcelona were to force him out, which looks highly unlikely.
