Newcastle United will reportedly demand €10 million to sell 31-year-old Greek international Odysseas Vlachodimos in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Orgullo Biri, Odysseas Vlachodimos is the subject of interest from Sevilla for a permanent move in the upcoming transfer window. The Andalusian giants are eager to bolster their first-team squad by signing a goalkeeper in the coming months.
The latest report has revealed that Newcastle United will demand €10 million to sanction a permanent exit for the Stuttgart-born shot-stopper. However, a summer move to Sevilla may be a “pipe dream” due to Los Nervionenses’ financial issues.
How has Odysseas Vlachodimos fared in La Liga?
Odysseas Vlachodimos has made significant progress since joining Sevilla on a season-long loan deal from Newcastle United last summer. The 31-year-old has barely missed a game since making his bow for the Andalusian outfit, and he has been one of the first names on the team sheet for them.
The Greek international has made 27 appearances for Sevilla thus far while keeping four clean sheets and conceding 44 goals. Meanwhile, Vlachodimos’s exploits have compelled Los Nervionenses to seek a permanent move ahead of the 2026/27 season. The latest update has suggested that it will cost them €10 million.
La Liga stay on the horizon?
Widespread reports have claimed that Newcastle United will not block a permanent exit for Odysseas Vlachodimos this summer. The Tyneside outfit’s stance makes sense, as the former Benfica skipper has barely featured under Eddie Howe since arriving from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth €21-24 million in September 2023.
As for Sevilla, the struggling Andalusian giants must make top-class signings to make significant progress after flirting with relegation in the 2025/26 La Liga season. However, they also need some stability, and retaining pivotal figures will be a step in the right direction.
However, while Newcastle United’s asking price of €10 million is appealing, Sevilla may have issues offering the transfer fee and matching the 31-year-old Greek goalkeeper’s wages. So, a permanent move to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium appears unlikely.
