Manchester United are looking to raise around £100 million this summer and are ready to sell eight players.
Michael Carrick has completely transformed Manchester United since taking charge mid-way through the ongoing campaign. The Red Devils are now looking set to secure Champions League football for next season, and they have already started making plans to further bolster their squad.
While their focus will be on signing some top-quality stars, United will also be parting ways with quite a few of their players who are no longer a part of their plans. According to a report from The Sun, at least eight first-team players could be sold, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe aims to raise £100 million.
Eight stars who could leave Manchester United
Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford are all set to be offloaded on a permanent basis, while Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia will be leaving the club as free agents.
These departures will bring in a significant fee and also free up a lot of space on their wage bill for future signings. The Red Devils are hoping to raise £64 million from Rashford and Hojlund’s departure, as the duo look set to secure permanent moves to Barcelona and Napoli, respectively.
They want at least £19 million for Onana to ensure they do not suffer a Profit and Sustainability blow. They will certainly suffer a significant loss on Ugarte and Zirkzee. The South American midfielder was bought for £50.8 million, while the Dutch international cost them £36.5 million.
While Casemiro’s departure is a blow, given the kind of performances he has put in this term. It does free up a lot of space on their wage bill, as the Brazilian is earning £350,000-a-week. Since the Red Devils have some big plans for the summer, these departures will make it very easy for them to land some of their top targets.
The departure of these eight players will allow them to complete a major overhaul. They could look to invest in some of the best young stars, who could help them both in the short and long run.
