AS Roma eyeing summer move for Mohamed Salah

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has confirmed that he will leave the Merseyside club after the 2025/26 season ends.

Naturally, Mohamed Salah is being linked with several clubs across multiple leagues and countries. According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, he could be on his way to his former club AS Roma at the end of the season.

The Italian outfit is plotting a bargain move for the Liverpool star. The Reds signed him for a fee of €39 million from the Italian club, and Salah has been exceptional for them. He has broken numerous records with Liverpool, and he has helped them win every single trophy available to the club during his time at Anfield, apart from the UEFA Europa League.

AS Roma return could be ideal for Salah

There is no doubt that he is one of the greatest players in the club’s history. However, the time is right for him to move on, and it remains to be seen whether Roma can bring him back to the club. He did quite well during his time in Italy with AS Roma, and returning to his comfort zone could be an exciting opportunity at this stage of his career. There is no doubt that he is still good enough to compete at the highest level, and a move to Saudi Arabia or the MLS would be underwhelming.

Roma are pushing for a place in the UEFA Champions League next season, and they will be an attractive destination for the Egyptian international. Returning to Italy at this stage of his career would make a lot of sense for Salah. The lower intensity of Italian football could prolong his career, and he could be an asset for Roma.

Is there a need for the Liverpool talisman at AS Roma?

There is no doubt that he is an elite goalscorer and an elite creator. Roma could use a player like him in the final third. His leadership qualities and winning experience could prove invaluable as well.

Liverpool and Salah have agreed to part ways on a free transfer. Signing a player of his quality for nothing would be a masterstroke from the Italian outfit.

The 33-year-old Egyptian scored 34 goals and picked up 21 assists in 83 appearances for Roma during his previous spell at the club, and there is no doubt he could make an immediate impact this time around as well. He knows the league well, and he has the experience to compete at the highest level.
