Ferran Torres offered to Manchester United for summer move

Intermediaries have reportedly offered Manchester United the chance to sign 26-year-old Spanish international Ferran Torres from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manchester United will have the opportunity to sign 26-year-old Barcelona attacker in the upcoming transfer window. The reigning La Liga champions are ready to sell a few marketable assets to balance their books and fund summer moves.

So, the Catalan giants have identified the Spaniard as a candidate to cash in on in the coming months. Barcelona may even explore an exchange deal involving Torres to enable a permanent move for Marcus Rashford ahead of the 2026/27 season.

How has Ferran Torres performed for Barcelona so far?

Ferran Torres has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Barcelona from Manchester City in a surprise move in January 2022. While the 26-year-old has been productive in the final third, he has never been an undisputed first-choice starter for the Blaugrana. Nevertheless, he has made his mark whenever given an opportunity, despite a few shortcomings in front of the goal.

The Spanish international has scored 16 goals and provided one assist in only 2,199 minutes of game time across 40 appearances in all competitions this term. However, despite his output, Torres faces an uncertain future at FC Barcelona, and intermediaries have offered him to Manchester United.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Several Premier League clubs have shown interest in Ferran Torres in recent months. As for the opportunity to join Manchester United, the former Manchester City attacker is an option worth considering, as Joshua Zirkzee faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford heading into the upcoming transfer window.

The versatile Dutch attacker is a backup player for Manchester United, and he is ready to call time on his stint with the Premier League club after the 2025/26 season. So, the Red Devils should ideally respond favourably to the offer to sign Torres from Barcelona, as the 26-year-old Spaniard can be a like-for-like replacement for Zirkzee while providing better productivity.

Additionally, the player’s ability to play across the offensive unit adds to his appeal, and he can feature on the flanks for Manchester United if he returns to the Premier League. However, it is unclear how much Barcelona will demand to part ways with the Spanish international. With Torres entering the final 18 months of his contract, a big-money fee may not be possible for the Blaugrana to recoup this summer.
