Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.
There have been rumours that Manchester United are looking to sign Bruno Guimaraes and that they have already agreed on personal terms with him.
However, Graeme Bailey has revealed to TEAMtalk that the player’s representatives are assessing the options available to them, but talks of agreeing personal terms with Manchester United are premature.
The 28-year-old Brazilian is a fan favourite at Newcastle United, and he has been an exceptional performer for them. He helped them win the EFL Cup last season and secure UEFA Champions League qualification.
However, Newcastle United have not been at their best this season, and they are in the mid-table positions. So, there have been rumours that the South American midfielder could look to move on and join a more ambitious team in the summer, and Manchester United will aim to take advantage of the situation.
Manchester United rumours dismissed
“People think that Newcastle are somehow ready to open the floodgates and let all of their players leave this summer. That is simply not the case,” Bailey said.
“Yes, they are aware due diligence is being done – in Bruno’s case, his people would not being doing their job if they were not assessing options but to suggest he has agreed terms to leave the club is wide of the mark, from what I am told.”
Newcastle United are looking to build a formidable team for the future, and they need to keep their best players. Selling them to rival clubs would send the wrong message about their ambitions. Additionally, Guimaraes is an indispensable asset for them, and his departure would be a huge blow.
Manchester United could use Bruno Guimaraes
As far as Manchester United is concerned, they need someone who can control the game from the middle of the park and add creativity and goals to the team. The Brazilian international would thus be the ideal fit for them. The 28-year-old is at the peak of his career and well-settled in English football. He could transform Manchester United immediately.
The South American midfielder has recorded 62 goal contributions in 189 matches for Newcastle United so far. Manchester United simply do not have a player of his skill set right now, and he could be a huge upgrade on their current options.
