Newcastle United not considering sacking Eddie Howe

Newcastle United reportedly have no intention of parting ways with their manager, Eddie Howe, despite their recent struggles.

Newcastle United have been far from their best this season. With the Magpies set to miss out on Champions League football for next season, there has been a lot of pressure on Eddie Howe. There have been calls for his sacking, but according to a report from Football Insider, the Tyneside club’s board are set to back the English manager.

Eddie Howe to remain in charge of the Magpies

Newcastle United have no intentions of showing him the exit door anytime soon, despite their inconsistent performances this season. Howe, who has recently been vocal about Bruno Guimaraes’s future, is feeling the heat from the supporters following their defeat to Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby.

The defeat to the Black Cats is not just a one-off; they were also hammered by Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, and the fact that they are 12th in the Premier League does little to help his cause. While the pressure continues to mount on the manager, the board is not planning any kind of knee-jerk reaction.

Eddie Howe remains committed to the project, and given what he has done since taking charge towards the end of 2021, the 48-year-old has a lot of credit left in the bank. Since they are unlikely to secure European football this time around, it will certainly be a priority for them next season.

Howe’s time at Newcastle United

While he remains under pressure and will certainly have to turn things around, Eddie Howe is expected to be the one leading them into the next season. The English tactician was brought in after the PIF-backed takeover, and he has since helped them go from a relegation-threatened club to one that competes for Champions League football.

The 48-year-old has led them into Europe’s biggest cup competition in two out of the last three seasons. He even guided them to their first title since 1955 when they defeated Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final last season. Given all that he has achieved, his position remains relatively safe for now.
