Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 26-year-old Canadian international Jonathan David from Serie A club Juventus in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Jonathan David is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 26-year-old Juventus centre-forward has emerged as a target for the North London club.
However, a deal is not straightforward, as Tottenham’s relegation battle in the Premier League has delayed the plans to sign David in the summer transfer window. So, the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners must wait for a few more weeks to expedite their plans to sign the player.
How has Jonathan David fared at Juventus?
Jonathan David has endured a frustrating journey since joining Juventus from LOSC Lille in a Bosman move last summer. The 26-year-old arrived at the Allianz Stadium after being one of the best players in Ligue 1, and there was hype surrounding him. However, the player has struggled to make his mark since scoring on his Serie A debut against Parma.
The Canadian international has managed only seven goals and five assists in 39 outings across all competitions thus far in the 2025/26 season. However, David’s stock remains high, with Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign Jonathan David last summer, but a deal did not materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as Dominic Solanke has struggled to make his mark since arriving from Bournemouth last year. Additionally, the English striker has encountered fitness issues during his stint at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Meanwhile, Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while it is unclear if Randal Kolo Muani will complete a permanent move after the 2025/26 season ends. Several candidates, including Georges Mikautadze, have thus emerged on the North London club’s wishlist, with David also a viable target.
However, while Tottenham will aim to sign David in the summer transfer window, they face delays in the battle to secure his services due to their relegation battle in the Premier League. So, the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners must wait for a few more weeks to expedite their plans to sign the 26-year-old Canadian international.
