Liverpool unwilling to sell Alisson Becker this summer

Liverpool will reportedly aim to block a summer exit for 33-year-old Brazilian international Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window amid his links with Juventus.

According to a report by Football Insider, Alisson Becker is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants are keen on bolstering their first-team squad by signing a world-class goalkeeper in the summer transfer window as they look for an upgrade on Michele Di Gregorio. So, the 33-year-old Liverpool shot-stopper has emerged as a target for the Bianconeri.

The latest report has brought a double blow for Juventus, as they “will not be able to afford a deal to sign [the] Liverpool legend” if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Additionally, the Premier League champions are unwilling to cash in on the South American shot-stopper in the summer transfer window.

How has Alisson Becker fared at Liverpool?

Alisson Becker has been arguably the world’s best goalkeeper since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in a deal worth €62.5 million in July 2018. The 33-year-old has made significant progress in the last seven and a half years, having been a mainstay between the sticks for his club and country.

The Brazilian international has made over 300 appearances thus far for Liverpool while keeping 139 clean sheets and conceding 301 goals. Meanwhile, the former player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Widespread reports have linked the former AS Roma goalkeeper with Juventus in recent weeks.

Serie A return on the horizon?

Juventus’s interest in Alisson Becker makes sense. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window, as Luciano Spalletti wants an upgrade on Michele Di Gregorio in the 2025/26 season.

While the Liverpool mainstay is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career, he is still at the top of his game, making him an appealing target for Juventus. So, the veteran goalkeeper has emerged as a target for the Bianconeri heading into the summer transfer window.

However, the latest report has brought bad news for Juventus, as the Bianconeri “will not be able to afford a deal to sign [the] Liverpool legend” if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Additionally, the Reds are unwilling to cash in on the 33-year-old Brazilian international in the summer transfer window.
