Cole Palmer backed to join Manchester United

Liverpool legend Emile Heskey believes Chelsea star Cole Palmer will eventually end up at Manchester United.

Cole Palmer has taken his game to the next level since joining Chelsea from Manchester City. While the English international has been doing wonders for them, he is reportedly unhappy at the club and could push for a move away.

Former Liverpool forward Emile Heskey recently talked about Palmer’s future during an interview with OLBG. He explained why he thinks the 23-year-old attacking midfielder is unhappy at Stamford Bridge and could look to part ways with the Blues.

Liverpool legend on Palmer’s future

While new Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has no intentions of parting ways with Palmer, Heskey believes the Manchester City graduate will end up at Old Trafford in the near future.

The 48-year-old said via TEAMtalk, “I could see someone like [Palmer] in a Barcelona shirt. The way that he plays, the fans would love him.

“But then again, when you’re a kid and you’re growing up, there are things that you dream of doing as a footballer.

“You dream of playing at a World Cup. You dream of putting on that England shirt. You dream of lifting the FA Cup. Things like that. And you dream of playing for your boyhood club.

“So Cole will have dreams too, possibly to play for United, so I wouldn’t put it past him if he did turn up there and they did take him on.”

Palmer’s rise to prominence

Palmer joined the Manchester City setup back in 2009. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to the first team in the summer of 2021. While he was a part of their senior side for two seasons, the 23-year-old had very limited game time under Pep Guardiola.

As a result, he ended up leaving them for Chelsea in the summer of 2023 in search of a more prominent role. He has been on fire since moving to Stamford Bridge. In his 116 appearances for the Blues, Palmer has 84 goal contributions.

He has established himself as one of the cornerstones of their project, and with his contract running until 2033, the Blues have no intentions of negotiating his departure. However, Heskey feels the 23-year-old could end up pushing for an exit.

Cole Palmer could join United?

Palmer might have dreams of playing for his boyhood club, and it could be one of the major reasons why he ends up moving to Manchester United in the future. The Red Devils would certainly love to have a player of his quality in their ranks.

He could certainly help take them to the next level. Even though it could complicate Bruno Fernandes’ future at the club, the Red Devils might still end up pushing for his signature if he shows any desire to join them.
