Chelsea and Manchester United have refuted claims over enquiries for Jurgen Klopp amid comments from the German’s agent.
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United and Chelsea have refuted claims of enquiries for Jurgen Klopp to become their new manager. The 58-year-old former Liverpool manager’s agent claimed the two clubs had approached with inquiries for the German, which the Premier League giants have now denied.
Jurgen Klopp was in the news of late following some major managerial changes in England and abroad. The German tactician, who was in charge of Liverpool for nine seasons previously, left the club at the end of the 2024/25 season and subsequently joined the Red Bull Group.
Klopp has seen various links over the past month or more to some of the big clubs in England and abroad. Most notably, he remains linked with a switch to Real Madrid and will succeed interim boss Alvaro Arbeloa ahead of the summer.
For now, he is happy with his role at Red Bull, although that does not rule out any potential switch back to football management in the near future. There were also reports in the January window that Jurgen Klopp may have rejected Chelsea as an option when the Stamford Bridge outfit were looking for a new boss before appointing Liam Rosenior.
As reported on Sky Sports, the 58-year-old former Liverpool manager’s agent claimed that Chelsea and Manchester United made inquiries recently. The claim might have caused a bit of a stir, given Jurgen Klopp reportedly suggested before that he would not manage another English side following his major stint with Liverpool
His agent said, “Before joining Red Bull, Jurgen could have coached the USA or England. Probably also Germany, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn’t already been there. Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jurgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England.
“These inquiries keep coming. He’s extremely happy with what he’s achieved. And it’s still wonderful to go down in history as one of the few coaches who only managed three clubs and were never fired.”
Chelsea and Manchester United denied claims?
Chelsea and Manchester United have denied claims of enquiries made for Jurgen Klopp recently. The Blues have already appointed Rosenior on a long-term contract, which indicates they are not in the market for a manager with a huge reputation, such as the 58-year-old former Liverpool manager.
Manchester United may have considered the idea of Klopp, but the club have refuted the claims made by the 58-year-old former Liverpool manager’s agent. At the moment, the Red Devils are linked with several big-name managers ahead of the summer, but they could also consider appointing Michael Carrick in a full-time role if he can bring short-term success to the team in his interim role.
