Bahia reach agreement to sign Alejo Veliz, will arrive in June

Alejo Veliz has been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur, and it seems Spurs have reached an agreement with Bahia to sell the player.

Alejo Veliz has been on loan at his boyhood club, Rosario Central, and they have been hoping to secure his signature on a permanent deal as well. However, Bahia have now secured an agreement to sign the talented attacker, as per an update by reputed Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo.

Veliz needs to sort out his long-term future and focus on his football, and recent reports claimed he wanted to stay at Rosario Central. It will be interesting to see if the 22-year-old can adapt to his new surroundings and establish himself as an important player for Bahia midway through the year.

There is no doubt that he is a talented player with a bright future. The Argentine would have struggled to secure regular opportunities at Tottenham, and the move would make a lot of sense for him. The player will complete the transfer in June, and an agreement has been reached between Tottenham and the City Football Group club.

The 22-year-old was highly rated in South America, and he was expected to develop into an important first-team player for the North London club when he joined. However, he barely had any opportunities to showcase his qualities in English football.

Spurs to regret Veliz sale in future?

Meanwhile, Tottenham need more depth in the offensive unit, and it will be interesting to see if they can sign someone who can galvanise their attack. The decision to let the player move on can hurt them.

Veiliz is a young player with a lot of potential and plenty of room for development. He could grow into a top-class striker with the right guidance in future. Meanwhile, Tottenham are struggling to find the back of the net regularly, and they need a reliable striker who can compete with Dominic Solanke for the starting spot.

Veliz might be slightly disappointed to have failed to secure a permanent move back to his boyhood club. Joining Rosario Central might have been his dream option. However, Bahia could be an exciting move, nonetheless. They could provide him with regular opportunities and help him fulfil his potential.
