Trent Alexander-Arnold set for Real Madrid stay amid Manchester United, Manchester City links

Trent Alexander-Arnold is not expected to leave Real Madrid anytime soon despite ongoing links back to the Premier League.

According to Football Insider, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future lies at Real Madrid despite ongoing interest from Premier League clubs. The right-back has struggled for form and fitness since his £10 million move to the Bernabeu, but he is pushing to fight for his place moving forward.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was one of the big talking points at Liverpool since last January until the summer, as their fans were waiting for the English defender to decide on his future. The right-back could have stayed and continued in Merseyside, but chose to take on a new challenge instead.

He was primed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, but with the Spanish side seeking him for their FIFA Club World Cup campaign, they ended up paying a modest £10 million fee to sign him. The England international has since struggled at the Bernabeu, with fitness and form issues playing a big role in his below-par time there.

Those issues have led to transfer speculation, with suggestions that Real Madrid could sell Trent Alexander-Arnold in the near future. Should that be the case, then a host of top Premier League teams were expected to be on his case to get a deal in place, although Real Madrid were expected to demand significantly for a player considered one of the top stars in his position.

Manchester City were linked with a move of late, with Pep Guardiola in the market for a new right-back for some time now. The idea of having the £10 million Real Madrid wide man in the team would add a new dimension to their attacking game, in a sense. However, that may not be the case, as Alexander-Arnold has no intention of leaving the Bernabeu anytime soon.

Alexander-Arnold to stay at Real Madrid?

While joining Manchester City would be bad for his Liverpool legacy, that also leaves Manchester United out of the picture. Alexander-Arnold was also surprisingly linked with a move to Old Trafford, although moving there would tarnish his Liverpool legacy for certain, as a move to Old Trafford may not be on the cards, irrespective.

In any case, Alexander-Arnold is not thinking about leaving Real Madrid anytime soon, and remains intent on fighting for his place and making himself count. Rumours aside, the right-back needs to get fit and start putting in consistent displays to integrate himself in the team in a big way for the present and future.
