Aston Villa and Chelsea are keen on signing PSG teenage attacking sensation Ibrahim Mbaye before the transfer deadline.
Ibrahim Mbaye’s sensational rise at Paris Saint-Germain has not gone unnoticed. Multiple top clubs from across Europe are keen on signing the teenage sensation this year. However, it won’t be that straightforward.
According to an update by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea and Aston Villa are two English clubs that are closely monitoring the young attacker’s progress at PSG and would love to add him to their setup before the end of the winter transfer window.
Ibrahim Mbaye joined the PSG youth setup in the summer of 2018. The Senegalese international went up the ranks at some pace and eventually got promoted to the first team ahead of the ongoing campaign.
The 18-year-old was already playing professional football last season, and so far, this season, he has been involved in 19 matches, racked up over 800 minutes and has contributed towards three goals. While Mbaye prefers playing on the right flank, he is equally effective on either flank.
Premier League duo to battle for Mbaye?
Ibrahim Mbaye’s sensational rise has resulted in a lot of interest from the Premier League. Several English clubs want him, and Chelsea and Aston Villa are the leading candidates. The youngster is a perfect fit for the West London club’s project, which revolves around signing the best young wingers.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have taken a massive leap under Unai Emery and want to continue building for the long-term; as a result, they consider Mbaye an investment for the future. While both clubs are closely monitoring him and would love to make an offer in the coming days, signing him won’t be that straightforward.
PSG have no intention of negotiating his departure. Les Parisiens consider him an integral part of their long-term plans. They could even hand him a new deal to secure his long-term future, despite the fact that the 18-year-old winger is already under contract until 2028. Given PSG’s stance, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea or Aston Villa could make any sort of progress in their pursuit of Mbaye.
